Speaking at the 2024 Practical Nigeria Content forum conference (PNC) in Bayelsa State, Dr. Doyle Edeni, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Blue Seal Chemical Production Plant, called for enhanced collaboration and strategic competition among African entrepreneurs to foster economic growth and innovation on the continent.
During a panel discussion with other key players in the industry on “Nigerian Content Beyond Borders,” He emphasized the critical role of partnerships in building a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in Africa. He urged established industry leaders to provide mentorship and support for emerging entrepreneurs, stressing that such collaboration would strengthen local industries and create a thriving economic landscape.
“Africa is a land of immense potential, yet its entrepreneurs often work in silos,” Dr. Edeni remarked. “By embracing collaborative competition, we can accelerate innovation, enhance productivity, and collectively elevate the continent’s global standing. Established players must support upcoming manufacturers to build a resilient, inclusive economy.”
He also encouraged young entrepreneurs to rise above societal challenges, maintaining their focus on excellence and innovation. Dr. Edeni shared insights from his own journey, detailing the hurdles he faced while establishing Blue Seal Chemical Production Plant in Nigeria. He described persistence and a willingness to embrace collaboration as key factors in overcoming these challenges.
“Young African entrepreneurs must abandon mediocrity, embrace creativity, and work collaboratively,” he said. “Do not let societal or economic obstacles derail your dreams of building a thriving business that can transform Africa.”
As part of Blue Seal’s commitment to practical education and industrial growth, Dr. Edeni announced plans to establish ten factories across Africa and research laboratories in Nigeria. These initiatives aim to create over 2,000 jobs per factory and provide university students and researchers with opportunities to gain hands-on experience in industrial and oil and gas processes.
The conference also featured an exhibition of Blue Seal’s locally produced chemical products, designed to meet Nigeria’s industrial needs while reducing import dependency. During a VIP tour of the exhibition, dignitaries including Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources; Rt. Hon. Ekeperikpe Ekpo, Chairperson of the Senate and House Committee on Local Content; Senator Natasha Akpoti; and Hon. Boma Goodhead commended Blue Seal’s contributions to local content development and innovation.
